Main dangers over – Grant at ABC – May 21 update

Got a call from Grant from ABC. he bombed down the route in ultra fast time on Sunday, and by lunchtime was relaxing with a beer. He sounded very relaxed, and contented. The main objective dangers are past, as it’s just a long hike back to basecamp on a well-trodden route. What remains to be seen is how much time he’ll need to hangback in basecamp and the expedition winds up and flights re-arranged. There are still some people who may be very tired and slow in the descent. Suffice to say, he is way ahead of his original schedule.

Cheers,
David

  9. Though you might’ve been a little tired the expectation for having the beer was that it was done standing on your head. If you can do it in the SCC members then ABC is just another acronym to be conquered. A massive CHUR to you bro and looking forward to seeing you back here in due course.

  16. Did you have time to fly your sponsor’s flags? Was it clear enough for a few photos on top? How long did you stay up there? What’s it like to “knock a bastard off”? So many questions from an ardent sycophant. A battle well fought, Axe. Now go suck on a few well earned beer crystals!

  18. Got a grim reminder of the dangers this morning in a news report that 4 climbers were lost on the south face on Saturday and a guide is missing, apparently on their descent from the summit, due to altitude sickness. Glad you’re well on your way back down.

Well done, by the time you read this you should be safe and sound as we are five hours behind you and news reaches us a little late. I gather there has been some mixed news on the mountain but I suppose that’s par for the course. Hope you have a good resting period before the track back. Cheers Kate S
