SMS just in from Grant…

13 hours to the summit and back to C3. Little rest here, and then I will probably head down to North Col this afternoon. I’m the first one back so not sure about the others behind me yet. But i saw all of them a few hours ago. I was held up a lot y the large Chinese team. Nice weather today but windy and cold on the summit.. Feel good and would love a beer.

    A well deserved summit Grant – you certainly have put in such a huge effort just to get back to the foot of the hill. Nice to have finally “knocked the bastard off” mate. Safe trip down * enjoy the thickening Os.

    So Grant did you manage to take my summit rock back to the top? For someone to have completed the cycle of my piece of Everest – that I carried back to Singapore and hopefully you have carried back to the top of the world by a good friend is sweet serendipity – the circle of life…

    Great example of goal achieved! Superb axemanship! Well done john foord you backed a winner , even if he hadn’t cracked it the top !the great journey we have been taken on – its still surreal that I can be home in bed and listening to audio of axe near the top of everest- it doesn’t seem right!!!

    Next challenge is to knock the top off a few tiger beers! I can probably mange that one! Cheers iain. Ps Crusaders 59 blues 12 and highlanders beat the bulls just in case you weren’t listening on the way up re hill!
