Days 28 – 29 Going to ABC again – and higher

(from Grant’s SMSs through Thuraya – summarised by David Lim)

Hi, moved up from IC from Basecamp yesterday. Feeling strong and hope this feeling stays. Today I’m moving to ABC at 6400m, and hope to then push up to NOrth Col. Then back to ABC for some rest and then up again to North Col for the final pre-summit acclimatisation cycle. The slightest recurrence of HAPE, and I shall be running back to basecamp and to Singapore.

As I don’t believe in good or bad luck,
but rather fate or destiny that will determine the day, all I can say, Axe is you have already proven yourself as someone that can take big bites out of life and swallow the conseq

…oops, I hadn’t finished … and swallow the consequences of the results whether you stand on top or not. Whatever, I’m mighty proud to call you a mate with guts. Now, head on up pugalistically with the wind in your teeth and give it your very best shot!

    Hey Grant,

You already banged heads with HAPE. Take your time going up the mountain. Don’t push too hard / too fast.

  16. Axe u are a legend in NZ bro! Stuff.co.nz has re-printed something out of the Dominion Post in Wgtn, a story written by a writer that used your blog-post as the basis of the item. It’s gone viral bro!! They even used the photo of u bent over your poles – http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/4981006/Kiwi-risks-death-to-fulfil-Everest-dream

I echo everyone’s sentiment bro, give it a crack, many wouldn’t have gone back up there I know it but if it doesn’t work a second time at least u did give it ur best shot! Go strong man

Standing (well sitting) right behind you Wee Man. Pity that Stuff did not put this sites link with their article. Never mind I have been doing my best to let everyone know about your attempt – it has been riveting reading.
Best of luck with it fella. Willing you on to the top from here in Switzerland and looking forward to your next update.
